A LATAM Brasil Boeing 777, coming from São Paulo and heading to London, was forced to land at Porto Airport due to a failure in one of the two engines, which led to passengers being transferred to other flights.
LATAM Brasil said in a statement sent to Lusa, that the plane, which took off from São Paulo (Guarulhos) to London (Heathrow), landed at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, “due to the need for unscheduled maintenance.” Without mentioning that there was a malfunction in one of the engines, which is information that Lusa confirmed with air sources.
The airline said that the landing of the Boeing 777 plane, which can accommodate more than 300 passengers, “was completed safely” early Wednesday afternoon.
“LATAM regrets the inconvenience caused and offers full assistance to passengers, who will be re-accommodated on further flights to their destinations. The company also confirms that it is adopting all technical and operational security measures to ensure a safe journey for everyone,” LATAM Brasil highlighted.
As a result, “the flight scheduled for Wednesday between London/Heathrow – Sao Paulo/Guarulhos has been cancelled,” the statement also said.
