Chinese electric vehicle battery maker EVE Energy is considering investing nearly €1.17bn (£1bn) to build a new factory on the outskirts of Coventry in the UK.
According to The Guardian, the Chinese company, which employs 28,000 people around the world, is in talks to build… com. gigafactoryWhich will form a major part of the UK’s electricity hub, which is set to be an investment district in the West Midlands.
Through the new factory, the company hopes to create up to six thousand new job opportunities.
The West Midlands is home to several car factories, including Aston Martin Lagonda and BMW, as well as the UK’s largest battery research centre, the UK’s battery manufacturing hub.
This is not the first company to choose to invest in the UK. Last year, Jaguar Land Rover owner Tata Group promised to invest nearly €4.67bn (£4bn) in building com. gigafactory Of electric car batteries.
