A 5.5m python caused panic in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire, England on Tuesday morning (23/8) when it escaped from its owner’s home and tried to enter another home.
The Burmese python was captured by a neighbor who already knew the animal and returned it to its owner.
According to the Daily Echo news portal, the police said they would not investigate the case as the incident was not a “police matter”.
Jenny Warwick says she looked out her window at 5:15 a.m. local time and saw a large yellow object on the roof of a house, but only realized it was a snake when she saw it try to enter the window.
“People passing by couldn’t believe what was happening,” says Warwick.
Linda Elmer, who identified and caught the python, says she woke up at 7 a.m. to neighbors knocking on her door, looking for the animal’s owner.
“Everybody panicked,” recalls Elmer, who also once owned a snake and was a firefighter.
“I managed to catch the snakeāno one wanted to help. It was very difficult because it was a big animal. I rounded this 5.5-meter python down the street and knocked on the owner’s door.”
“He’s a beautiful animal and Burmese pythons are very docile. They’re not aggressive snakes by any means. I’ve had one before, so I felt comfortable holding it,” Elmer says, admitting the situation was “a shock to everyone.” .
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Animals (RSPCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare in the UK, has advised snake owners to keep their animals well under control this summer. run out
