The internationalization of the economy of Minas Gerais is one of the main pillars of the work Minas Gerais Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Foreign Trade (INDI). To advance this approach, the teams rely on the work of five international agents established in some of the world’s major countries, whose mission is to directly assist in the mapping, excavation and defense of the economic interests of Minas Gerais.
An evaluation of the institutional performance of this agenda was conducted on Friday (6/8), through events, outcomes, associations and collaborations, as well as resolution of requests related to the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (Waipa), of which Indy is the regional director for South America.
In addition to Indi CEO, Joao Paulo Braga, Director of Investment Attraction, Ronaldo Alexandre Barquet, Business Director, Renato Garcia and agents Tim Chen (China), Brino Silva (UK), Cristiano Jardim (Portugal), Marson Kona (US) and Alberto Maestre (Spain).
The CEO of the agency, Joao Paulo Braga, explains that in attracting investments, competition is global and contention occurs between destinations all over the world. “To access these investments, we need a network that supports us in this challenge. That is why Indi has such a team of international agents who are looking to share opportunities,” he says.
In addition to Waipa’s regional administration for South America, another significant achievement has been Indi’s affiliation with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), an American organization that brings together professionals and institutions from around the world dedicated to economic development.
The IEDC offers a range of services and tools that help boost investment. Members of this group include local, state, provincial and federal governments, public-private partnerships, chambers of commerce and universities.
