In Paraná, 288 municipalities have recorded dengue cases in 22 regional health. The report provides 93,329 notifications of the disease, also in 22 regional municipalities, and indicates that there are 2,359 under investigation for the final classification.
The 32 deaths occurred in the municipalities of Moretes (1), Paranagua (4), Foz do Iguaçu (3), Matilandia (1), Medianeira (1), Roncador (1), Campo Morao (1), Paraiso do Norte (1) . 1), Santo Antonio de Caiwa (1), Marialva (1), Maringa (2), Abucarana (1), Alvorada do Sul (1), Asai (1), Campi (2), Ipura (1) and Lindrina (9 ).
The number of cases increased by 87.7% compared to the previous period. In 2019/2020, there was 227.724 confirmation. There was also a decrease of 81.9% in the total number of deaths – in the previous epidemiological period there were 177.
Dengue fever is still one of the main concerns of the state government. The Minister of State for Health, Beto Brito, said the reduction at this time is not a reason for us to drop our guard regarding the control of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits the disease.
“According to an assessment conducted by health monitoring technicians at the Ministry of Health and Sesa, the decrease may be related to the Covid-19 epidemic and the residents’ fear of seeking care in health units, as well as the possibility of under-reporting or delays in notifications as a result of the teams’ involvement in the fight against the epidemic,” the minister emphasized.
The Ministry of Health stresses the importance of controlling and eliminating Aedes aegypti breeding sites, while organizing health services to achieve this, but mainly with the participation of the population. The last insect survey conducted between April and June of this year proved that mosquito infestations are in homes, at points where water accumulates. The Minister warned: These are the breeding sites that must be eliminated.
According to the survey, 80.8% of breeding sites were found in points that can be removed and eliminated, such as garbage, construction debris, tires, plant pots with dishes, defrost containers, and others.
Other diseases
With regard to chikungunya, the report recorded 94 confirmed cases in that period, in addition to two cases of Zika virus infection. Diseases are also transmitted through the Egyptian Aedes mosquito.
The data in Tuesday’s bulletin is preliminary. It will be in front of the municipal and regional health deadline until October to complete the investigations relating to this period.
Tuesday, the tenth, Sessa will be published first bulletin for the period 2021/2022.
Procedures
During the period of epidemiological 2020/2021, the Department of Health has implemented various activities to combat sexually transmitted viruses. Online exercises were promoted via YouTube to guide technicians on the clinical management of dengue and the importance of integrated work between dengue control agents (ACE) and community health agents (ACS).
There was also a partnership with the School of Public Health for the online course on Improving Health Surveillance, focusing on environmental monitoring in vector-borne and zoonotic disease control procedures, with 340 participants.
In March 2020, by Resolution (126/2020), the Center for Emergency Operations (COE) was established, through regular and online meetings, with the participation of the Regional Health, representatives of the Paraná Municipal Health Board of Trustees, the Public Ministry of Paraná, the Regional Medical Council and Sesc/PR, among others.
“We also highlight that 60 surveillance units have been set up, deployed in 22 regional health offices to conduct timely surveillance of viral onset of dengue, Zika and chikungunya,” said Maria Goretti David Lopez, Director of Healthcare and Surveillance. .
The director added that through one of these guarded units, an outbreak of chikungunya fever was identified in Abukarana municipality in April of this year, allowing for rapid intervention.
“In addition, Sesa has prepared six guidance notes to support municipalities in the fight against arthropod viruses, from vector control to the work of surveillance and healthcare teams, especially at this time of viral circulation between dengue fever and Covid-19,” noted Maria Goretti.
