Sporting will not participate in the 2021/22 edition of the Handball Champions League. After finishing the second season of last season, the Lions team was not among the six clubs that received an invitation from the European Handball Federation (EHF), similar to what happened last season.
Elverum (Norway), Meshkov Brest (Belarus), Dynamo Bucharest (Romania), Motor Zaporozhye (Ukraine), Montpellier (France) and Veszprém (Hungary) were selected by the EHF among 12 clubs that applied for the wildcard.
Thus the Lions will compete in the European League, along with Benfica and Aguas Santas, the two teams that finished third and fourth in the tournament.
FC Porto has already been confirmed, the unbeaten national champion, who will recognize their opponents in the group stage on July 2, at 12 noon. And remember, the Dragons were knocked out in the Round of 16 last season against Aalborg.
Take a look at the full Champions League squad:
FC Porto (Portugal) Barcelona (Spain), BBD Zagreb (Croatia), Aalborg (Denmark), Paris Saint-Germain (France), Flensburg-Handouet (Germany), Kiel (Germany), Molbeck Segde (Hungary), Vardar (Macedonia do) North), Vive Kielce (Poland), Elverum (Norway), Myshkov Brest (Belarus), Dinamo Bucharest (Romania), Motor Zaporozhye (Ukraine), Montpellier (France) and Visprem (Hungary).
