We are still far from the end of these strange and difficult times we live in. The pandemic has changed the way we see and live the world. We have to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel and find solutions. Having vaccinated the most vulnerable – the elderly and the chronically ill – with the support of families, institutions and companies, let us focus our attention on tourism, which is fundamental to the development of any region, and in particular my country. Also because it’s also how we encourage those who live in Cinfães to stay here and attract others to relocate. Cinfães’ strategic plan was pursued in a sustainable way, by investing in a range of infrastructures attractive to the outside public, using the municipality’s own capital and with the support of community cadres. The interior of the country can not only demand public and private investment (which it should), but also have to create the conditions to make the region more attractive.
Portugal is, today, a prized tourist destination appreciated by tourists and Cinfães is no exception! Fashionable (re)discovering Cinfães. Last spring and summer there was a tourist demand in the municipality of Sinvice. We tried to limit the loss of operators with a 25% discount on accommodation and, among other things, exemption from municipal fees and taxes. We are committed to promoting tourism in the region, especially to those who live here, and to improving the conditions for our offering. We help the local economy get back on its feet and want to give everyone who wants to know us a good experience. Between the summit of the Montemuro mountain range and the mouth of the Paiva River, on the Douro River, Cinfães is close to everything, just over an hour from Galicia, Porto and Viseu, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This is one of our trump cards.
Then, Cinfães is a place where nature inspires and breathes health! Peace and tranquility in an area in its purest form of preservation, tranquility and security elusive in urban centres. We propose a full partnership with nature. I live in a magical place, in the dryness of the mountain, a privileged place from which you can see the greenery of the banks of the Douro, Pestanza (one of the least polluted areas in Europe), Paiva, Serra do Marao, Sierra da Estrela, even the green plains of the Sampaio River waterfall or the Ribeira de Waterfall Tendais.
Cinfães is, after all, a naturally unique destination. Filled with unique places like the Bestança Valley where nature interacts with each other, without human intervention. In villages like Gralheira, 1200 meters above sea level in the middle of the Montemuro mountains, where history remains unmoved with humble and welcoming people.
To all this is added gastronomy with original flavors and aromas. Rib rice, Arocesa veal steak, Cinfais style rouges, green wine and regional sweets, i.e. matulos (butter cakes) or antes, are the ultimate reason to recognize the region in which I was born, I grew up and work with the greatest of pride.
It may be a professional flaw, but after several months of being locked behind four walls, we must open the doors to nature. Thanks our health!
