North Korea banned the use of certain eyelets, skinny jeans and “buryats,” a short front, top, sides and long back haircut that was very popular in the early 1980s through the early 1990s.

According to South Korean Yonhap News Agency, the ban follows an article published last week in the official North Korean government newspaper, “Rodong Sinmun,” warning that more should be done to prevent capitalist culture from “invading” the country. .
The article reads: “We must be careful even with the slightest hint of the capitalist lifestyle and strive to get rid of it.”
The Communist regime declared all haircuts illegal, except for 15 “non-socialist” hairstyles, and issued an order regarding “appropriate” hairstyles. Thus, so-called “pimples” and spiky and colored hair are no longer permitted in North Korea, according to documents published by the National Socialist Youth League.
Piercings on the nose, lips, skinny jeans and branded sweaters are also blocked.
According to the newspaper, the new fashion rules are part of the regime’s campaign against “anti-socialist behavior” and it comes at a time when North Korea is also cracking down on South Korean K-pop groups to stem the influence of foreign countries.
