Since its release on May 7, Resident Evil Village has sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
Capcom announced the news through Prof. Press release, As it was revealed that Ethan Winters’ new adventure had a strong entry into computers and consoles.
The Resident Evil series was born in 1996 and has since sold over 100 million copies in all of its games. Resident Evil Village is on track to replicate the success of its predecessor, RE: 7, which sold more than 8.5 million copies by the end of last year.
The news also comes after Capcom announced that it once again broke earnings records for the fourth year in a row, largely due to the success of Monster Hunter Rise and the remake of Resident Evil 3.
On Steam, Resident Evil Village simultaneously broke player records, another testament to its immense popularity. However, he is not immune to controversy, after being accused of stealing the brutal design for a movie that premiered in 2013. Watch the monsters that led to the accusations here.
