The Spanish royal family is going through a period of change, if not turmoil.
As reported by El Nacional, the Zarzuela Palace ordered Queen Sofia to vacate two of the three houses attached to the palace that were occupied by her two daughters – Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina.
The application was submitted as part of the reorganization of the property in Marivent, the residence where Felipe VI, Letizia and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, spend their summer vacations (during their “vacation” to Mallorca).
The King is scheduled to arrive in Marivent on July 23, where he will stay until the 26th, during which time he will travel to Paris for the start of the Olympic Games. On July 27, the family will meet again.
Now, in order to accommodate the Spanish kings and their daughters, Sophia had to “give up” two properties to allocate to her eldest son and family.
According to the newspaper, the decision was not only due to logistical and space issues, but also seems to reflect the preference of Queen Letizia, who, according to close sources, wants to stay away from the most problematic members of the royal family.
