Updated data for “Swiss Football Data”.
Swiss Football Data has updated the historical ranking of points won by clubs in UEFA competitions since the 1955/56 season, with Benfica still in third place behind Real Madrid (the reigning European champions, with 15 titles) and Barcelona (with 5 Champions League titles). The Reds have participated in 64 European competitions, having won the most important title in the 1960/61 and 1961/62 seasons, and have also lost 8 other European finals (5 European Cups, 1 UEFA Cup and 2 Europa Leagues).
Looking at the top ten, we also find Bayern Munich, Juventus, Ajax and Porto. The Dragons have also won the premier competition twice (in 1986–87 and 2003–04), as well as two Europa League titles (in 2002–03 and 2010–11) and the European Super Cup (1987), for a total of 63 appearances. Manchester United, Dynamo Kyiv and Milan complete the list of the ten teams with the most points in the history of European competitions. Sporting are 20th (87,318), while Braga are the other Portuguese representative in the top 100 with 34,083 points.
