EDP has announced the launch of the Hope Fund, a new funding and incubation programme targeting social entrepreneurs with projects aimed at a just energy transition. This three-year programme aims to identify and support organisations developing innovative solutions to social issues related to the energy transition, with implementation planned in Portugal, Spain and Latin American countries.
The Hope Fund provides significant financial support, as well as an incubation and acceleration programme, with expert guidance, to help entrepreneurs scale their social impact solutions. Selected projects may receive funding of up to €500,000.
This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with two strategic partners: Ashoka, an organization dedicated to supporting social entrepreneurs, and Bridge for Billions, an online platform that provides tools and guidance to entrepreneurs in the early stages of growth.
“We are excited to launch this new initiative, which is fully aligned with EDP’s mission to support social entrepreneurs who contribute to changing the world. We believe that by supporting innovative and sustainable projects, we can have a positive and relevant impact on our communities and on some of the most pressing issues facing society today, such as energy inclusion or the just transition,” commented Vera Pinto Pereira, Member of the Energy Board of EDP’s Executive Board.
Interested organizations can apply for the fund via: Billions Bridge Platform Until August 31. Projects should focus on areas such as access to clean energy for communities in need, energy efficiency, training for energy transition industries, and environmental conservation with positive social impact.
The project selection process will take into account criteria such as innovation, impact, scalability and sustainability. The Hope Fund is part of EDP YES – You Empower Society, the company’s global social impact strategy, which aims to invest €300 million by 2030 in more than 500 social responsibility projects in different locations.
