Ricardo Dores, 68, and Maria João Hipólito, 67, put an end to their relationship and decided to leave the SIC program “Casados à Primeira Vista” on Sunday, July 7 – but at first, it was not consensual. Despite not being able to create a romantic relationship, the two have become friends since joining the experiment and their relationship has been respectful, but Maria João’s decision to leave the program has upset Ricardo.
The two were among the last to be called in by the experts, and even caused some controversy among the other couples. “Was there a fight?” asked Mariana, who is experiencing the experience with Elson, admitting that the last ones to be called in are always the ones who cause the most controversy. When they sat down, and despite explaining that the friendship was improving, Maria João and Ricardo came to the conclusion that they disagreed about the future of the relationship.
“Our goal was to do well and I think we did that,” Ricardo said at the start of the conversation. However, both mentioned that there are personality traits that cannot be changed, meaning they are not exactly a match. However, Ricardo said he still “didn’t want to leave at all,” but that Maria João had ruined his plans.
After showing a sign saying she wanted to stay, and even making a face with a “smile from ear to ear,” that same smile disappeared when Maria João revealed she wanted to leave the show. “I’m not only surprised by the decision, I’m offended,” Ricardo said.
“I haven’t spoken to Ricardo, but Ricardo knows that I wanted to tell him right away what happened at the last party. I have no problem with Ricardo and we have performed well this week, but there was a situation that I felt and in relation to the group I don’t feel what I felt before,” explained Maria João.
“He let me stay in that wave of position and then forced me to leave. She just shows who she is,” said Ricardo. Faced with the disagreement, Diana Chaves, the show’s host, suggested that the couple stay again until the end of the night of the commitment ceremony, to reflect on their decision and decide what they wanted to do together. This meant that Maria João was able to move on, and Ricardo also decided to leave the show.
“The only words I exchanged with Maria João were only in meaning and interest, I don’t ask anything from anyone,” Ricardo began to say.Maria João maintained her inflexible stance and wanted to leave. If you want to go out, we go out. In everything we talked about, I tried to make it work, if it’s not possible, it’s not possible. I leave under protest “In a very clear way, because it was not my intention at all, Maria João proves once again that she knows my intention,” Ricardo said.
Maria João responded to her dislike of her now ex-partner’s words. “And you know me, I said last week when it happened, I was very upset. I said I was sorry I didn’t go out because I didn’t feel well and I wasn’t worried at all during the week,” she said, sounding upset. “He’s someone who didn’t have the courage to tell me before we came here that he was coming to leave,” Ricardo commented.
“He was surprised, because Ricardo… I think he’s a selfish, narcissistic person. He was so focused on pleasing the group that he didn’t even realize that there were other people who might not be okay,” Maria João insisted. “He was more concerned with pleasing the group, he didn’t worry about knowing how I was doing that week, I even thought it was strange that he didn’t ask why I was going to tell him, but he never asked,” she insisted.
