This equipment aims to provide “integrated supportive care, promoting independence and social support, in outpatient clinics, for people with different levels of dependence,” and will be ready to receive “users of different ages, including adolescent children and adults.” The institution highlighted.
“In addition to all the benefits to society by expanding the national network of integrated and continuous mental health care, this project will also contribute to the training of professionals specialized in the field of mental health support,” explained Roy Thomas, Secretary General of the Piaget Institute mentioned in the memorandum.
The facilities will also be an “excellent platform for conducting vocational or systematic training,” encouraging the creation of new job opportunities in the region, the person in charge said.
The partnership with the Piaget Institute, which provides the Society of Friends with part of its facilities available on the Silves campus, is financed within the scope of the PRR, whose contract forms part of a global investment of €1.4 million aimed at strengthening the RNCCI response in the Algarve region.
This investment is part of the National Integrated Continuing Care Network and the National Palliative Care Network component of PRR.
“The implementation of this new mental health equipment at the Escola Superior de Saúde Jean Piaget in Silves is an important step towards improving healthcare provision in the region.
