The guest of “Edição da Manhão” from SIC Notícias, Roberta Medina, responsible for the Portuguese operation of rock music in Rio, revealed her satisfaction with the debut of the event in Parque Tejo, a space in which she would like to continue to see the festival in future editions.
“We want to grow. We are not using the entire space of the park. We already have several ideas: the park offers the possibility of more entertainment attractions, more infrastructure, and perhaps more stages. For me, Rock in Rio in Parque Tejo will continue. Our research says that 70% of audiences really enjoyed the experience [aqui]”, he declares.
Regarding the difficulties expressed in getting to and from the place, the city repeats the message: “Leave the car at home” or use the available parking lots and use the shuttle buses. “The noise complaints we received were due to people honking their horns on their way out.”
Facing a weekend where temperatures are expected to approach 30 degrees Celsius, the festival organizer is ensuring that it is possible to take a water bottle of up to 500ml to the venue “without anyone lifting the lid”. Regarding the dust complaints in Parque Tejo, Medina says he took advantage of existing roads during World Youth Day, “which were really dusty,” and the only way to avoid dust clouds “was to run a water truck across them.” These areas, what the organization will do before opening the doors.
Rock in Rio expects 60,000 people on Saturday, the day the Jonas Brothers headline, and 80,000 (tickets sold out) on Sunday, with Doja Cat as a headline name.
