WhatsApp has announced a series of updates to its communication service, including the ability to make video calls with up to 32 participants on any device. This and other improvements will be implemented in the coming weeks, according to the company.
Since introducing the calling feature in 2015, WhatsApp has constantly worked to improve this functionality. “We introduced group calling, video calling, and cross-platform support, and today we have several updates that will improve communication across all your devices,” the messaging network said.
Among the new features, the screen sharing feature with audio stands out, which is described as ideal for watching videos together, allowing audio to be transmitted while sharing. Another innovation is that the user who is speaking will be automatically highlighted on the screen, making it easier to recognize the main interlocutor.
In addition, video calling functionality with up to 32 people is now available on all devices.
As for audio quality, WhatsApp will continue to work on improving both audio clarity and video quality, allowing for clearer calls and higher accuracy, even in noisy environments or with limited connectivity.
