This Friday the British government revealed its readiness to host the final of the Football Champions League, following the inclusion of Turkey on the list of “red” tours, due to the number of daily Govt-19 cases in that country.
“We are available to host the final, but the result is up to UEFA. As the finalists are two English clubs, we look forward to the result,” the minister said. British Transportation, Grand Shops, at a press conference.
The Champions League final is scheduled for May 29 in Istanbul, so all Manchester City and Chelsea delegates to Turkey must comply with mandatory 10-day isolation on their return to the UK and British authorities at hotels specifically designated for this purpose.
With more than 20,000 cases being filed daily in the country, Shopes acknowledged that “it is necessary to put Turkey on the red list” and confirmed that travel will only be allowed under exceptional circumstances, which does not include elite athletes as well as professional footballers.
Turkey has so far recorded more than five million Govt-19 infections and more than 42,000 deaths.
