The Belgian Central Bank says that the challenges facing the Portuguese club are consistent with its ambitions
Zino Debast confirmed, in statements reported by the Belgian newspaper HLN, that he will play for Sporting next season. The centre-back, who plays for the Belgium national team, which will compete in the 2024 European Championship, was keen to clarify his future, admitting that he will indeed leave Anderlecht.
“I have decided to play for Lisbon next season. My choice was inspired by the trust that this historic club has in me. Sporting is the right step because its sporting challenges match my ambitions.”
He has already spoken about the goals of the Portuguese champion. “Next season, we will compete in the Champions League and we will try again to win the national title. The conversations with coach Ruben Amorim completely convinced me. He and his team took the trouble to accompany me during the months and months.” “I am convinced that this will further help me in my development as a professional footballer, and I look forward to meeting my new teammates and achieving our goals.”
Debast also left his thanks to Anderlecht, the club where he started his career fifteen years ago. “I thank Anderlecht and especially the coaches who helped me become the footballer I am today. I am also grateful to the fans for their support and confidence in me.”
