Netflix has captivated users and shown how the streaming service can be used in a personalized way and with more and more titles. This app will soon have new features that will completely change what is offered, especially in terms of video quality.
With displays and other components getting increasingly better, it's only natural that the smartphone user experience will improve dramatically. However, there are cases when these components do not work as expected and with everything that smartphones have to offer.
This is where Android, as well as existing apps, can help. Simply give users the ability to improve or overcome these limitations, and everything becomes better and more enjoyable to use, as expected from the beginning. Netflix will now have something new that will help precisely in this area and on the screen itself.
The new feature is not yet available, but it can already be found in the in-app code available in the beta version. From what can be evaluated, it will only be one button, but it can change the quality from HDR to SDR, i.e. with lower quality, but less demanding for the Netflix application.
The strings in the application code show that this will soon become a reality and is under development. It could have read "Android allow selection of SDR/HDR sic stream". In another case, in the same application and in the same situation, the text “Toggle Button” was present.
It is expected that this button will also allow the user to reduce the quality of the received video. With this change, it may be possible to save data and consume less power to run the app on your Android smartphone. This is another benefit of having this button in the Netflix app.
It is not yet known when this button will be available and ready for use. It has not yet been deployed for testing and therefore cannot be tried and evaluated yet. After this step, you will switch to the version available to everyone. This is an important change that only Netflix will get, without its competitors having anything similar or even comparable.
