Bloco de Escirda’s deputy, Mariana Mortagua, said Thursday that it was “inappropriate” for the Novo Banco administration to award “itself” even though it continued to produce negative results.
“It is not appropriate for Novo Banco’s management to grant itself bonuses in its salaries for the second year in a row, when it continues to incur losses and asks the public treasury, through the settlement fund, to inject significant capital,” said Mariana Mortagua. In a transcript published on the party’s website.
The subject of the dispute is the awarding of a bonus, referring to 2020, of 1.86 million euros to the members who make up this Executive Board of Directors headed by Antonio Ramalho.
As for the clogging position of the administration led by Antonio Ramallio, it proves two things. First, that the sales contract “is a destructive contract, and it does not prevent even this administration, which works in the service of shareholders, from granting self-remuneration while asking taxpayers money to finance Novo Banco,” Mortagua asserted.
Second, “When deciding on your bonuses, and this decision that Lone Star shareholder will make, we learn very well who is responsible for Novo Banco and who obeys management.”
“This bonus should not take place, it is illogical, and more than that, the reasons that led the government to prevent any allocation of funds to Novo Banco this year,” BE Vice stressed, adding that the bonuses are “unnecessary” and “meaningless”.
