The 300 MW installation represents an investment of €150 million for the energy company, which, as you may recall, is one of the main interested parties in the offshore wind auction in Portuguese waters.
The energy company Naturgy has started the construction of “Campo de Arañuelo”, the largest photovoltaic facility in Spain, with 300 MW of peak capacity and located in the municipalities of Alceacentenera and Torrecillas de la Tiesa, in the province of Cáceres.
The new plant, which will be commissioned in 2026, will produce about 515 gigawatt-hours per year of renewable energy, equivalent to the electrical consumption of 157,100 homes.
The installation will also contribute to reducing more than 250,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, the company said in a statement.
Naturgy will invest more than 150 million euros in the project, which will occupy an area of 290 hectares. During the construction and exploration phase, more than a thousand direct and indirect job opportunities will be created.
It should be noted that Naturgy is one of the representatives of the Spanish fleet that is at the top of the list of interested parties in the offshore wind auction in Portuguese waters, which is scheduled to start soon. It is expected to start by June this year, and has already been delayed by six months, which is justified by the early election scenario.
With 14 companies interested, including energy giants and little-known companies, the largest number of companies come from Spanish territory. Followed by Portugal, with 11 interested companies, some relatively unknown, others from the engineering and construction sector, and the energy companies Galp, EDP Renováveis or Finerge.
This is followed by French companies (7), the United Kingdom (5), Germany (3), Australia, the Netherlands, Norway and Japan (each with 2 companies), and several countries have one company each (Denmark, Italy, Belgium, USA, Ireland, Canada, Switzerland and China).
The auction will be held in two stages. First, companies are allocated sea space to conduct their studies; Later, an auction is held to determine the CfD prices.
