Parts of Buckingham Palace in London and Balmoral Castle in Scotland will open to the public for the first time next summer, the Royal Collections Trust has announced.
Buckingham's renovated east side can be appreciated on a guided tour. Tickets will grant entry to the main corridor, where Thomas Gainsborough's paintings are on display, and the famous balcony room where the royal family greets the public gathered in the “Mall”.
This section of the palace was built between 1847 and 1849 to house Queen Victoria's extended family, giving Buckingham its rectangular, not horseshoe, shape. The unit will open after more than five years of work, which has mainly involved refurbishing the electrical system and plumbing.
A guided tour is sold separately from the palace's general entrance for £75 (€87). Bookings for daily visits from June 15 to August 31 can be made from April 10.

A long summer visit to the famous royal residence is available from July 11 to September 29, 2024. Between July 1 and August 4, visitors can access parts of Balmoral Castle, Windsor. A summer residence in Scotland, before the arrival of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
40 tickets are available per day and cost £100 (€116) or £150 (€174) (with English tea break). Previously, Queen Elizabeth II's favorite visit to the castle was limited to the garden and ballroom.
In March, the SAPO Travel If we compare the prices of some major monuments in Europe, Buckingham Palace tops the list. A traditional summer visit to the official residence of the British royal family costs 37 euros.
