Public health physician Nuno Rodriguez has been elected Secretary-General of the Independent Doctors Union, succeeding Jorge Roque da Cunha, the union announced in a statement.
The elections took place during the 14th SIM National Congress, held this weekend, in Peniche.
Nuno Rodriguez, 41, born in Porto, is a public health doctor at the District Health Unit of the West.
Between 2014 and 2023, he served as Public Health Physician at ACES Oeste Sul.
From 2014 to 2022, he served as Health Delegate for ACES Oeste Sul.
In 2022 he received the Golden Municipal Order of Merit from the Municipality of Torres Vedras.
Member of the SIM National Secretariat since 2018, Nuno Rodriguez, replaces Jorge Roque da Cunha, who has led SIM for 12 years, as leader of the union.
The new Secretary General of SIM obtained a degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, specializing in public health in 2013, and nine years later he obtained a consultant degree. He also obtained a postgraduate degree in Health Unit Administration and Management from the Instituto Superior de Administrative and Management of Santarém.
At the Fourteenth National Conference, the Union's administrative bodies were elected for the three-year period 2024-2027.
