The new iPad Pro with an OLED display and M3 processor is very close to being announced, according to recent rumors, and more details regarding its design have just emerged. According to the tipster known as Instant Digital, Apple may launch its new tablets with a matte display option.
It is said that the new iPad Pro models may launch with a glass panel with a reflectance rating of -4 to +24, which is enough to prevent the panel from reflecting light like traditional displays and getting it absorbed by the glass – similar to what appears on the screen of Samsung's Frame, Siro and Serif TVs.
Therefore, it is very likely that the company will incorporate the nano-textured glass technology already used in the Apple Studio Display and Pro Display XDR displays, which have been praised for the significant reduction in panel reflection.
Apple explains on its website that nano-textured glass is recommended for those who work in a very bright space, such as sunny environments.
“The surface of common opaque displays receives a light-scattering finish. The same finish can reduce contrast and produce blurry spots and flicker. Because it is sandblasted at the nanometer level, the nano-textured glass scatters light to further reduce reflection and deliver exceptional image quality, even when Lighting conditions are not ideal.
Adopting a matte screen could also have benefits for artists or students who prefer the friction of using the Apple Pencil rather than the smoothness of traditional glass.
The new iPad Pro is expected to feature a high-brightness OLED display in 11-inch and 13-inch options, an M3 processor inherited from the MacBook Pro, and a refreshed design focused on the horizontal user experience.
New accessories are also expected, including the Magic Keyboard, which will ditch the floating look in favor of a traditional MacBook design, and a new third-generation Apple Pencil with interchangeable tips.
Rumors suggest that Apple's new high-performance tablets will be announced on March 26, Tuesday of next week.
