Through its tissue paper business, Metze Group has announced the launch of a three-week public consultation on its plans to build a new state-of-the-art tissue paper plant in Coole, East Yorkshire in the UK.
Metsä announced in September 2023 that it has chosen Cool as the location for this historic investment. The planned investment is estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of pounds. Subject to planning and environmental approvals, the new factory will increase the UK's self-sufficiency in tissue products production by more than 30%. The proposed factory would be the largest in the country and would create more than 400 jobs at the facility and thousands more throughout the supply chain and local economy.
Metsä Tissue's business is rooted in sustainability, and by 2030 all products will be made entirely from fossil fuel-free raw materials as the company strives to achieve net zero emissions. The cool facility will use state-of-the-art sustainable manufacturing technologies to provide an efficient, modern facility with world-class environmental performance.
