This announcement was made on Monday by the government delegate in the Valencian Region, Pilar Bernabe, in statements to the media after her participation in the European Forum when she was asked about the news in this case.
BernabĂ© explained that in this case the police ruled out any criminal signs as a cause of the fire – which is why the court closed the case last week – and recalled that it was a random incident.
The police indicate that the fire originated in the kitchen of a house in one of the buildings of the building, specifically from one of the appliances.
Bernabe added that from this moment on, the different home insurance companies and the homeowners' community will be able to work, “Come and see the issues related to those affected, so that they can resume their life project.” pointed out.
Court No. 9 of Valencia, responsible for investigating the fire, agreed last week to temporarily close the case after the Valencia Judicial Police Brigade of the National Police Corps reported that the first investigations had made it possible to exclude a criminal or criminals in the building fire at Rafael Alberi Street No. 2 in Valencia.
In light of this information, the court agreed to temporarily close the case until the appropriate police investigations and analysis are completed, which continue to clarify the specific source of the fire that occurred on February 22.
On the other hand, the Court of Inquiry authorized insurance companies to access damaged assets, under police supervision, to allow steps to be taken to compensate injured parties, as this measure does not conflict with police investigations.
The fire broke out on February 22, around 5:30 p.m., in Apartment 86 of one of two buildings of 138 properties destroyed by the fire.
Only one hour after the fire broke out, the flames engulfed the two 10- and 14-storey residential buildings, where about 450 residents lived. As a result, 10 people died and 15 others were injured, including seven firefighters.
As a result of the declared fire in these buildings built in 2009 – at the time of the real estate boom – by a developer who went bankrupt, the entire emergency operation – firefighters, police, health and forensic workers – was launched and judicial proceedings were taken. It opened an investigation into what happened and determined the causes of the fire, which spread in record time.
