After Wednesday’s Dynamite, Britt Baker showed great frustration with her situation in AEW and it looks like the former champion isn’t the only one who feels this way.
In the latest edition of your PodcastMatt Hardy revealed that he is very frustrated with his position in AEW.
I think it’s very important to say that I feel like there’s a place for us in AEW if we’re utilized properly. We just have to get there.
At our WrestleCade this week, they said it was the biggest house they’ve ever had at the event. We had a huge queue in Meet and greet. There’s still a huge fan base that wants to see us like them.
We’re not the Matt and Jeff Hardy of 1999, but there’s a lot we can do to help young people and also make our contribution, but we need to be used in the right way, and hopefully we can achieve that. We feel that we are taking steps in the right direction.
I mean, creatively, the way we’ve been using it for the last four months has been very frustrating. We’ve been very patient, but there’s a lot of frustration with the things we’ve done and the way we’ve been used in some aspects.
So I feel like the most natural thing is to channel that frustration and put it into what we do, and for those who hate us, let’s give them a reason to hate us.
There’s something we can do to make our characters develop and, again, reinvent ourselves into something we’ve never done before, because there’s never been a situation of doing everything necessary, like cheating if necessary and being the bad version of the Hardy family. .
We did stuff like Broken Matt and Brother Nero. There was a time when he was the Antichrist and obviously I was a heel because historically he’s always been the most popular among us, but I think us being together in a new role, I think it’s going to be very refreshing. I think it’s something we can use to get where we want to be.
I feel like because we’re considered one of the most iconic teams ever, with all our accomplishments and all the work we’ve done and all the paths we’ve opened, I feel like we’d be at the level where we would have been with a few wins here and there, we’d get into competition with a younger team and then put them more.
But we don’t have the opportunity to do that and that’s what I want.
Even after the last fight we had, I went back to the president and said, “We want to talk to you. I feel like there is a way to get to the point where we can still maintain ourselves as a threatening, relevant and modern team, but we can also help build younger teams.“
I think this is where we should be now.
Do you think Matt Hardy’s frustration is justified?
