A man from the United Kingdom has encountered a somewhat unusual situation in recent days. This is because he received a fake iPhone 15 Pro Max after ordering directly from Apple’s official website. The case was posted by the user on social media and it didn’t take long for it to go viral.
The buyer purchased the product from the most trusted location possible, with delivery confirmations sent by Apple itself and tracking details through partner Dynamic Parcel Distribution (DPD). However, the main surprise came when he opened the box and turned on the device for the first time.
The buyer’s skepticism grew when the device was turned on. The device flaunts features absent from iPhones, such as a non-OLED screen and a thick bottom bezel. As we continued with the configuration, it became clear that the device was actually an Android device disguised as an iPhone.
“The first thing I noticed when I turned it on was the screen wasn’t quite right. The black area was lit in a way that wasn’t clearly OLED, and there’s a detail below that says it’s not perfect for this type of phone,” he said on social media.
Buyer suspects Apple ID and Apple Wallet fraud
On continuing to use the device and explore the information, it was nothing but an Android cell phone disguised as an Apple. Pre-installed applications like TikTok, Facebook and YouTube detected the device as fake.
Knowing it was a scam and fearing potential scams, he avoided signing in with an Apple ID or setting up an Apple Wallet on a fake device. Because he imagined the risk of personal and financial information being stolen.
In his Reddit post detailing the case, the user said he had already opened a technical call with Apple, who promised to get back to him in the next few days. “Fake” iPhone. .
No word on how he got Android masquerading as an iPhone. Especially considering that the purchase was made directly by Apple, which handled all shipping and handling of the product.
