DrTwo police officers from the New York Police Department, in the US, have won high praise for stopping a man from jumping from an overpass in an act of desperation.
The film’s heroes are Carl Fayette and Eliodoro Matta.
They were both called to an incident involving a man trying to jump from a bridge, but never imagined he was about to meet his “guardian angels,” according to the Daily Mail.
In the images, captured by a ‘body camera’, you can see the altruistic attitude of the two police officers towards the man who was certainly going through a turbulent period. At that moment, Fayt starts talking to him, offering him some advice and words of reassurance.
“I’ve been in your shoes, it’s not worth it. There are solutions, there is a way to really get out of this situation, I promise you, as a New York police officer. You are a good man, I promise you brother, we will do everything we can to help you, please listen to me, I have I was in your shoes, I care about your life, you are stronger than that,” the agent said while trying to get the man to focus on his voice and words.
He continues: “I love you. Please hear my voice. I love you. I care for you. You have my shoulder. Lean on me. Life is beautiful. I promise we will fight together, brother.”
Meanwhile, other police officers were able to approach him and successfully rescue the man.
After he is safe and sound, Carl Fayette ends up involuntarily crying over the situation he just went through. The moment was emotional and the video spread on social media, receiving thousands of comments and reactions that praised the agent.
