In addition, Dogger Bank is also the site of GE Renewable Energy’s first Haliade-X wind turbine installation.
- Each of these wind turbines is 260 meters tall, equivalent to the height of Rockefeller Center in New York;
- Each wind turbine’s blades are 107 meters long and each of their turns is capable of producing enough energy to power an average household in the United Kingdom for two days;
- Once completed, the Dogger Bank wind farm will feature 277 offshore wind turbines, capable of producing enough clean energy to power six million homes annually;
- Furthermore, the wind farm is expected to contribute to an annual CO₂ reduction equivalent to taking 1.5 million cars off the streets.
Responsibility for the development and construction of Togar Bank lies with Equinor from Norway and Vårgrønn, a joint venture between British SSE Renewables and Eni Plenitude and Hitec Vision. By implementing these innovations in the renewable energy sector, the UK seeks to reduce its dependence on non-renewable sources and contribute to the fight against climate change.
