This Thursday, September 28, at 4:30 p.m., the Goiás State Department of Health (SES-GO) and the Council of Municipal Health Administrations (Cosems) will hold a ceremony to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Committee of Bilateral Directors (CIB), a deliberative body composed of Representatives of the state and municipalities.
This event, scheduled to be held in the hall of the Faculty of Health of Goiás, will honor all former Secretaries of State for Health and former Presidents of Cosems who have served over the past three decades and who have contributed significantly to the deliberations of decisions strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS) of Goiás.
The CIB is a collective body of expression, negotiation and agreement between health managers from both governmental spheres (state and municipal) to regulate and operationalize public health policies within the scope of the SUS. In practice, the CIB constitutes a democratic instrument through which initiatives are adopted for the benefit of the people of the state.
CIB’s performance over these 30 years coincides with the progress SUS has made in Goiás. During this period, important decisions were taken, including reorganizing and targeting financial resources, and strengthening the decentralization and regionalization of health procedures and services. Based on CIB decisions, medium and high complexity services were implemented, state-of-the-art equipment was acquired and important units were built, including the Otavio Laje de Siqueira State Emergency Hospital (Hogol) and the network of government clinics.
