The study was published in the important international scientific journal The Lancet, and among the authors of the study is Dr. Ricardo Cohen, coordinator of the Specialized Center for Obesity and Diabetes at the Alemão Oswaldo Cruz Hospital. At the beginning of the month, the doctor was elected global president of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), its acronym in English, International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders.
The mathematical model developed took into account patients’ weight trajectories based on seven preoperative variables: age, weight, height, smoking history, type 2 diabetes status and duration, and type of intervention.
