Since last month, many users have started receiving error messages on Windows, with the error code “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR”. This issue started to occur after updates were made available for Windows 10 and 11.
Interestingly, the issue only affected MSI motherboards in the 600 and 700 series. The company at the time confirmed the issue and indicated that it would patch it. Now more details are emerging about what really happened.
According to the message from MSIthe failure will be related to a change in firmware settings related to the Intel Hybrid Architecture, which mainly affected systems with the 13th generation i9 processor.
To fix the bug, MSI has released a new BIOS update for affected motherboards, which users can now apply to fix the issue. This update will be available in the coming weeks on the MSI website corresponding to each affected card – users will need to download and apply the update manually.
The affected motherboard models include:
- MiG Z790 ACE
- MPG Z790 Carbon WiFi
- MPG Z790 Edge WiFi
- Mag Z790 Tomahawk WiFi
- Pro Z790-A WiFi
- Pro Z790-P WiFi
- Pro Z790-P
- Pro Z690-A WiFi
- Pro Z690-A
MSI states that BIOS updates should be available by the end of September, and all users are advised to check the pages associated with their motherboards for updates.
