Novak Djokovic qualifies for the US Open semi-finals – US Open

Tennis player Novak Djokovic, currently ranked second in the world rankings, defeated American Taylor Fritz on Tuesday, to qualify for the semi-finals of the US Open for the 13th time in his career.

The Serbian, who had already guaranteed his return to the top of the rankings at the end of the tournament, defeated the current ninth in the ATP rankings, who has not yet lost a set throughout the tournament, with a score of 6-1, 6-4. 6-4 in the round of 16 after two hours and 35 minutes.

With this victory, Djokovic increases his advantage over the American to 8-0 and takes another step towards his goal of equaling Margaret Court’s historic achievement of winning 24 Grand Slam titles.

In the semi-finals, the Serbian will face the winner of the confrontation that will take place in the early hours of Wednesday between his American compatriot Frances Tiafoe (10th) and Ben Shelton (47th place).

If he reaches the final of the tournament, which will be held next Sunday, the 36-year-old Serb will face one of the following four players: Carlos Alcaraz (1st), Alexander Zverev (12th), Daniil Medvedev (3rd) or Andrey Rublev. (VIII).
