Silence until “O Fado à Janela” is sung.
As has become tradition, Friday night at Fiestas do Mar is dedicated to Fado. In addition to being an intangible heritage of humanity, Fado is part of our roots and one of the greatest symbols of Portuguese identity. New generations of fado singers have proven that this musical genre can appeal to all ages. Proof of this is the success achieved by “Fado à Janela” at Festas do Mar in recent years. With the beautiful atmosphere provided by the illuminated Paços do Concelho building, this is a unique moment that surprises and captivates anyone who passes by, even those who do not usually listen to Fado. This year, Sara Baixão and Francisco Salvação Barreto took on the challenge of singing at the window for almost an hour, resulting in one of our most beautiful moments at Fiestas do Mar.
