a School of Nursing (Facenf) of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), through an initiative coordinated by Prof. Erika Andrade, is implementing actions to promote the health of employees of the Municipal Department of Urban Cleaning (Demlurb). This activity is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Juiz de Fora City Council (PJF) and Dimelpur itself, with the aim of providing a comprehensive range of health care services targeted to the female public.
Among the services provided are preventive care, discussion groups on reproductive rights, referrals for mammograms and counseling on women’s health. This initiative is part of the broader “Caring for Who Cares” project, launched in March this year by City Hall, whose primary objective is to implement actions aimed at improving the health, education, leisure and well-being of Demlurb employees.
The activities started in August and are expected to end in October, taking place weekly on Thursdays, between 1 pm and 5 pm, at the headquarters of the Basic Health Unit (UBS) in the Vila Ideal neighborhood, on Avenida Francisco Valladares, n° 1900 . Services are organized into groups, with the advance schedule being coordinated by the department’s social assistance team. It is expected to serve 180 servers.
According to the coordinator, the consultations are currently being carried out by four students from the specific vocational training project for the collection of cytopathological tests and four students from other extension projects related to women’s health. “By partnering, the university fulfills its social role with the street sweepers, who take good care of our city and often leave their health in the background. We have noticed that the workers have joined in and are satisfied with the service provided and the quality that was provided.”
