Diane Bettencourt: The disease leaves women dependent on painkillers
Bill 1069/23 includes disabling endometriosis in the list of diseases that do not depend on a grace period for awarding sickness and disability retirement benefits. The text specifies that women with the disease receive full treatment by the Unified Health System (SUS) with multidisciplinary care, access to complementary testing, pharmaceutical assistance, and access to recognized therapeutic modalities, including physical therapy and physical activity.
The proposal establishes basic guidelines for improving the health of women with endometriosis.
Project author, deputy Diane Bettencourt (União-CE), states that endometriosis, as a terminal disabling disease of labor, causes severe and recurrent abdominal pain, leaving many women dependent on very strong analgesics to control pain and constant use of narcotics. Anti-inflammatories.
“There are cases where manifestations of the disease include bleeding in the stool and pain during intercourse, which can cause additional symptoms such as fatigue and headaches, in addition to mental and psychological disorders and sleep disturbances,” he justified.
