The Ministry of Agriculture, during its participation in an international conference of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), confirmed that Brazil is a pioneer in the regulation of agricultural drones. The ministry said in a note that the application of agricultural pesticides with drones was the subject of the conference, which was held in the United Kingdom, and was attended by the head of the ministry’s agricultural aviation department, Olin Colato.
In this event, Collato recalled that in 2022 the Ministry submitted to the OECD Pesticide Group, through Ordinance No. 298/2021, the regulation of the use of drones for input application in Brazil. “We are a leading country in the specific regulation of agricultural drones,” emphasized the head of the agriculture department in the ministry.
At the conference, Canada, Australia, Japan and the European Union presented their specific regulations on the use of drones for pesticide application. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development is developing its own regulations on this topic.
