Margherita Della Vale says it wants to “streamline the organization to regain its competitiveness”, in a statement announcing results for the 2022/2023 financial year reporting revenues stagnating at €45.7 billion.
Vodafone announced in early December the departure of the former leader, Nick Reid, after four years at the helm of the British Telecom Group, in the context of poor performance.
Della Valle held the position on an interim basis, until her confirmation as CEO last month.
Vodafone, a heavyweight in the sector in Europe, has been undergoing a restructuring process for several years, which has prompted the company, in particular, to refocus on Europe and Africa.
Last week, Etisalat and Emirates Telecom (e&), which became the British telephone group’s largest shareholder a year ago, announced a “strategic partnership” agreement.
e & group, which has gradually increased its stake in the British operator over the past year, now to 14.6% of the share capital, has been officially designated the “Vodafone reference shareholder”.
