A user without a family doctor verbally attacked and pulled a knife at health professionals at Moskved Complementary Care Center on Friday. The case was detected by the Syndicate of Independent Doctors (SIM) which required measures to be taken to avoid such situations.
In a statement, SIM added that “without the wisdom and swift and effective police intervention” of agents from “a police station across the street,” something “extremely serious” could have happened in that health unit.
SIM says it regrets that despite “repeated alerts, it never received a response from the Group of Health Centers (ACES), the Regional Health Administration of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (ARSLVT) and the Ministry of Health.”
“The lack of security is in fact one of the reasons that prompted the Supplementary Care strike during the week. Unfortunately, this was confirmed once again by the lives of the doctors, nurses and clinical secretaries who performed their duties,” says SIM.
In this way, SIM asks officials to “take real measures to avoid the occurrence of these very dangerous situations”, betting on the safety of professionals and on effective measures to punish the offenders.
Lusa Agency contacted the Lisbon urban leadership of the PSP during Friday night who did not want to give details about the incident, referring to the silence on the matter.
