With the aim of contextualizing the scenario of care, epidemiology and vector control and harmonizing activities to contain the progression of cases of arboviruses reported in the north of Minas Gerais, especially dengue and chikungunya fever, technical teams of the Secretariat of Health of the State of Minas Gerais (SES-MG) and the Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Health and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) on Tuesday, April 11, a series of meetings in Montes Claros.
On Tuesday morning, teams from SES-MG, the Ministry of Health and the Pan American Health Organization participated in meetings with technicians from the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) in Montes Claros, with the aim of defining the context of care and the scenario for combating and controlling epidemic diseases, as well as the harmonization of actions to face the current situation For reported cases of sexually transmitted viruses.
The Director of Sanitary Surveillance of Montes Claros SMS, María Clara Léles Ramos, presented the situation in the municipality, noting that in recent weeks, cases of dengue, chikungunya and Zika virus have been reported. However, as of April 4, the municipality has reported 29,723 cases of the virus. Of this total, 20,523 cases and deaths were related to dengue. 9085 notifications, four deaths due to chikungunya fever and 115 notifications related to Zika virus.

During the meeting, technicians from SES-MG, the Ministry of Health and the Municipality highlighted the need to review the work of endemic disease control agents, while investing in training and changing the approach to home visits, with the aim of involving the population in determining what actions need to be taken in order to contain the spread of Aedes aegypti.
