Only 500 copies of this car model were built and one of them was photographed today in a rural parish in Braga. We’re talking about the McLaren Senna, a limited-edition sports car designed as a tribute to former Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. The photos were shared on social networks and soon gathered dozens of comments as they admired the record, especially since it is Pieralva, a very rural parish in the province. From the license plate it is clear that it is registered in Switzerland.
According to the details provided by the brand, the Senna is a two-door “supercar” coupe, with a 4.0-bit turbo V8 engine, 800 horsepower and is related to the McLaren 720S. It is 4.7 meters long, 2.1 meters wide, 1.2 meters high, and 2.6 meters between the axles. It weighs 1,198 kg. According to the Ayrton Senna Institute, this McLaren exemplifies “characteristics of Ayrton Senna unequaled in any other car”, praising acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Its top speed is 335 km / h.
Launched in 2018, the model is named after the driver whose rights are owned by the Ayrton Senna Institute and also the car manufacturer. Its cost was about 850 thousand euros at the time of launch, but all cars were purchased in 2017, that is, before the launch itself.
It should be noted that the brand built another 115 Senas, but of a different model, making them even rarer. These were also sold out prior to the performance.
It must be remembered that Ayrton Senna has won the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship three times serving the English brand, which in turn has won four world constructors’ titles with the Brazilian driver at the helm.
McLaren Senna caught fire in Braga
In 2020, a similar model was burned when circulating on Avenida João Paulo II, in the city of Braga. The luxury car sustained material damage at the rear, as the fire was confined to the road.
