Tony Carrera, Pedro Abronhosa, José Cid, and Diogo Picara are the highlights of the Festa das Cruzes, Minho’s first major pilgrimage, which takes place in Barcelos, between April 28 and May 3.
José Cid is performing on April 29th (Saturday) with special guests. “It’s going to make an exact replica of the concert at Rock in Rio,” said Elisa Braga, the culture consultant.
On April 30 (Sunday the eve of a public holiday) it was Pedro Abronhosa’s turn.
On May 1st (Monday), May Day weekend, there is a performance by Diogo Bessara.
Concerts are held on the river bank.
On this day there is also Batalha das Flores, which will have a “record number” of participants.
On the second of May, on the eve of the municipal holiday, the Tony Carrera concert will take place.
On April 28, the pilgrimage begins with the dedication of the petal carpets at the Sanhur da Cruz Temple. The day also features a tribute concert to Chico Buarque, on Avenida da Liberdade.
The Feast of the Crosses ends on May 3rd, a municipal holiday, with the traditional procession of 89 crosses for the parishes of the province.
Mario Constantino, President of the Chamber, invited everyone to be “Ambassadors of the Festa das Cruzes”, and invited friends to go to Barcelos during the festivities.
