The municipality of Magi, through the Ministry of Health, organized the first of the 16 meetings of the popular education course in health at EdPopSUS – Fiocruz, this Thursday (23), with the participation of 110 students. Magé is the only municipality in Brazil with three classes. The goal is to improve and exchange information between community health agents, coordinators, endemic control agents and community leaders. The initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Health and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation.
′′ The course has been off since 2019, so it is gratifying to know that we are back strong and many more classes. It is important to bring what has been updated, new methods to health, so that the municipality advances and serves all users of the public system, ”undersecretary Larissa Ribeiro celebrated.
The first meeting took place at the Cooperativa de Pau Grande and the initial aim was to share knowledge. The basis of the course is that teachers and students are sources of knowledge and share experiences that can be applied in their areas, striving to create an identity and empathy with the population and the city.
“People’s education is everything! We do not teach them anything, we learn and share knowledge. I was a student in the first edition of EdPopSUS and today I am a teacher. “It’s a very big emotion,” said Marilyn Formiga, Magee’s Emergency Health Network Coordinator.
