On Thursday (23), during a live broadcast of “Resident Evil 4”, the Brazilian gaming channel Flow Games was hacked by cybercriminals who invaded the account to spread a cryptocurrency scam.

In the case of Linus Media Group’s channels, hackers placed content from vehicle manufacturer Tesla, using images of Elon Musk to direct users to a scam link.

YouTube accounts for spreading cryptocurrency-related scams have become frequent on the platform. Last year, the channel of YouTuber Davy Jones (also a member of Flow Games) was hacked, renamed “Ethereum” and began broadcasting promoting cryptocurrency scams.
On the day of the iPhone 14 announcement, cybercriminals took advantage of the event to create “Apple Event Live. Apple CEO Tim Cook: Apple and the Metaverse in 2022” and promote cryptocurrency fraud.
Kaspersky’s “Cryptographic Threats 2023” report shows that cybercriminals are always looking for new ways to trick users by implementing phishing tactics and stealing login credentials.
