Benfica received and defeated Portimonense, 8-2, without resumption or aggravation, in a match that refers to the 18th round of the National Futsal Championship, which was held on Saturday night, in Pavelhao Fidelid, in Lisbon.
In what was the first game for the Reds after the departure of Boulbes from the technical leadership – Estevão Cordovil took over the team in this match, before Mario Silva came to the bench (introducing Les Porto coach Salvo should happen so far at the beginning of next week) – even Portimonense It was he who took the lead, on 6 minutes, with Nardinho, in the second corner, touching the back of Léo Gugiel’s net.
But a few seconds later, Romulo, with a cross shot, restored par.
Algarve returned to the advantage, after the 18th minute, with Nardinho scoring twice. The Suns were, once again, short-lived as, in the attack that immediately followed, Rocha capitalized on a pass from Gonzalo Sobral to make it 2-2 which was verified at the end of the first half. We should also add that in the first half Benfica saw two of its players sent off: Carlos Montero (11), for piling yellow cards, and Bruno Coelho (17), for a straight red card.
The complementary phase was completely different from the first 20 minutes and…it was just Benfica. The Eagles’ first lead came in the 22nd minute with Rocha from outside the area, making it 3-2. From there…came defeat.
Bruno Sintra, Afonso Jesus (2), Ivan Cishkala and Silvestre Ferreira also enjoyed the feet and embodied the supremacy of the Luz team.
With this victory, Benfica reached 41 points, to remain in third place in the league table, three points behind SC Braga and Sporting – the Lions only play on Monday, at home, against Quinta dos Lombos (at 8.30 pm). On the other hand, Portimonense remains 11th and penultimate, with only 7 points added.
In the next round, Benfica will travel to Caxinas (Saturday, 5pm CEST), while Portimonense will host Sporting (Sunday, 26th CET 3PM).
