YuA video shared by South Africa’s Kruger National Park shows the moment a group of hippos frightens off a lion that was sitting on a rock.
“This lion is isolated on a rock in the middle of a river. Suddenly hippos start surrounding him, and one of them tries to attack him and force him to jump into the water,” reads the video description, shared on the park’s website and YouTube.
The animal, trying to reach the bank, ends up getting scared again, because while it doesn’t end up running over an animal of that kind.
According to the BBC, hippos are the most dangerous mammals in the world. In addition to being aggressive, they also have very sharp teeth. It is estimated that about 500 people die each year in Africa due to attacks by these animals.
The video was shared on Tuesday and has already been watched on YouTube by almost two million people. In the comments, users also commented on the mod.
“Nature always surprises me. Watching interactions between different species fascinates me, even if it is sometimes an extreme situation”wrote one user.
“It’s a shame we haven’t seen this before. How did Assad end up there?”someone else asked. A third commentator noted that this was a situation that demonstrated how “nature was unpredictable”, given the animals’ “switching” roles – since lions are known as the “kings of the jungle”.
