Still remember the old “I feel lucky” button? What was and is really next to the Google search button? Have you ever realized what the feature is for? Well, let’s see what this button does!
I feel lucky. That’s what the button is for!
So, although nowadays it is rare for us to set foot on the Google.pt or Google.com homepage, the truth is that the button is still there waiting for our search. Yes, this button also performs searches, however, it works in a slightly different way compared to the traditional Google search.
For example, if you search for the word “lol”, and press the “Google Search” button, you will find the following page.
Normal page, where we can find a highlighted League of Legends link. But if you want to play around a bit, typing “lol” in the search field and hitting the “feeling lucky” button will turn up something a bit different. Why? Because in a nutshell, what this button does is open the first result of any search. (result below!)
However, over time, this button has also acquired other features. Nowadays, if you hit the “I feel lucky” button without any letters or words in the search bar, that button will take you back to Google’s doodle history.
What are doodles?
Doodles are fun, amazing, and sometimes spontaneous versions of the Google logo created to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists.
First of all, when was the last time you pressed that button? Any idea about the job? Or did you remember that button is still there in 2023? Share your opinion in the comment box below.
