On Thursday (09), the Secretary of State for Health, Arita Bergmann, received the Mayor of Pelotas, Paola Mascarenhas. At the meeting, Paula gave an overview of the hospital care services provided in Pelotas, where ways to qualify the services technically and financially were discussed. In the municipality are Santa Casa de Pelotas, the University Hospital of São Francisco de Paula, associated with the Catholic University of Pelotas, the Teaching Hospital affiliated with the Federal University of Pelotas, and the Hospital Beneficência Portuguesa.
Mayor Paula Mascarenhas has also asked for support from the State Ministry of Health to assist in projects and in the search for resources that will technologically qualify the future Pronto Socorro Regional Hospital, a work by the Municipality of Pelotas with delivery expected for 2024. The Hospital de Pronto is a reference in technology, explained Mayor Socorro. in the field of health. With an investment from the municipality and the state, the new Pronto Socorro Hospital aims to rehabilitate urgent and emergency care.
Minister Arrieta highlighted the municipality’s importance to health care and promotion in Rio Grande do Sul. “Pelutas is a strategic regional hub, as it plays a very important role in the health of the country, especially in the Greater Southern Region,” Arita emphasized. More than a million gauchos live in the 28 municipalities of the Greater South Region, with Pelotas being the most populous municipality.
