The municipality of Itapuna “Muterao” organizes a dengue fight in “Bairro Santo Antonio” for the prevention and control of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The event will take place on the third Friday from eight in the morning.
According to the coordinator of the Department of Endemic Disease Control of the Municipal Health Department, Lucimar Ribeiro, work began on Thursday afternoon with focal and insecticide treatment on several streets of the neighborhood. The trend is for people to leave windows and doors open.
In joint work with a team from the Public Cleanliness Department of the General Secretariat for Infrastructure and Urban Planning (SIURB), about 60 endemic disease control (ACE) agents will dispose of materials such as tires, old furniture and building materials among other items that accumulate water and are removed.
Removing PET bottles and objects that can become storage tanks is also to prevent the breeding of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue, chikungunya and the Zika virus.
The municipal administration warns residents of the importance of participation, awareness and mobilization of all. “If we all do our part, the mosquito will not find suitable environments to breed,” says Ribeiro.
